Champion-maker Bill Parcells is this close to agreeing to take over the Falcons, but not as coach. He'll run the whole kit and kaboodle.
It'll be the end of the era-by-committee that has allowed players and coaches to literally run amok and the football become nothing but the curtain on the stage.
Parcells is old-school, he can rub people the wrong way (Patriots fans, you know what I'm talking about), but he's also all about football. You may not see him on the field, but his appointment will forever change the franchise.
It's a bold, brave and totally the right move for the Falcons. Best news all year.
