Scene of the crime

The San Fran Zoo reported twice as many visitors as normal as it reopened its doors after the fatal tiger mauling (story here). Zoo officials chalked it up to morbid curiousity. That's a bit cynical, I think. Part of the magnetism of zoos is their gift of proximity to wild and often dangerous wild animals. That experience can only be heightented at times like these.
